Land Rush! These Prices Are a Steal

Join the land rush! There may not be gold in the hills... but there's oil, palm oil. Lots of biofuel enterprises have been rushing to snatch up fertile land in Colombia's coastal and plains regions for biofuel plantations. Startup costs are so cheap, in fact, you'd think they'd been stolen. And you would be right! Afro-Colombian, indigenous and campesino families have had land violently taken from them by right-wing paramilitaries since the late '90s. But they weren't really using it, certainly not for big agribusiness. Land is so valuable, and, somehow, still cheap, that the Uribe government has given land promised to farmers who were forced away from theirs at gunpoint, back to big agribusiness companies. This practice has been well documented. You don't have to worry about investing in Colombian land. Even if it was really someone else's, we'll make sure you can keep it.
